Description

To learn more about how to participate in the first Mon Valley Christmas Bird Count (CBC) and upcoming training opportunities, contact Ben Kehoe at bkehoe@aswp.org or (412) 904-7486.

We've added a Christmas Bird Count (CBC) circle for the Mon Valley area - to be held on Sunday, December 17! The CBC is a national effort that is the longest-running Citizen Science project for birds in the United States. It takes place every year across the country between December 14 through January 5. Tens of thousands of bird-loving volunteers spend part of the winter season outside counting birds. This data has been crucial for scientists who monitor the population and distribution of our declining bird species. Also, it is really fun to spend time outside counting birds with friends and family!

You can participate by counting birds in local greenspaces or in your own backyard. More information, including CBC training opportunities in the Mon Valley, will be coming soon. If you can't wait, check out upcoming CBC training dates or Winter Bird programs on our calendar
