Fireflies guide you on Beechwood Farms Nature Reserve’s trails to encounter larger-than-life costumed nocturnal creatures. Hear stories from creatures such as a Great Horned Owl, observe the acrobatics of the Flying Squirrel, go batty with Little Brown Bat, and meet a real-live creature of the night!

Choose your nature-related badge or activity! This program, for Cub Scouts and elementary Girl Scouts, is booked by group or den. Contact Scott Detwiler at (412) 963-6100 to make your reservation.

Bind high-quality paper to heirloom quality leather covers to create a unique journal in which you can record your observations. You’ll decorate the journal and add a clasp to secure it shut. Registration is now closed.

Plants and animals are preparing for winter. We will discuss why trees show brilliant fall colors as they prepare dormancy, compared to why birds leave their showy spring plumage behind for duller forms.

Volunteers are needed to help make Audubon’s Nature Reserves even more bird- and pollinator-friendly. Activities will include removing invasive species and replacing them with high wildlife-value native species. All materials will be provided and all ages are welcome.
